James La Barrie
How to win and keep skydiving sponsors without being a World Champion
BPA Skydive the Expo welcomes back James La Barrie, an international speaker who is passionate about marketing and the skydiving industry. As a former dropzone manager, he is the antithesis of most marketing professionals. He doesn't believe that great marketing starts with throwing money at an advertising campaign, but rather implements techniques in word of mouth, social media, company culture and world-class branding to create a connection with guests that drives the bottom line. In an age where millennials are a DZ's most sought-after customers, James La Barrie's style of marketing is tailor-made for creating trust with a generation of consumers who are true digital natives.

Bobby Bishop, President of Texas Turbine Conversions, and Lisa Morris, TPE331 Product Line Director at Honeywell
Honeywell will present information regarding the simple and robust design of the TPE331 engine that has served the Turboprop industry for more than 50 years. This engine has a unique architecture that propels the industry to new heights. See how this engine has the ability to get you to higher altitudes faster than others in the industry while using less fuel and providing longer range. You’ll be able to experience the history of applications of this engine and enjoy learning about the exciting opportunities you can experience with the power of the TPE331 turbine engine.
How air pressure turbulence influences AAD activation timing
AADs work by measuring air pressure. That tells us the altitude and, when combined with time, gives us our vertical speed too. Because we're always moving, turning and changing body position in freefall, plus the fact that the AAD is placed on our back inside the rig, there is always turbulence around the AAD. This has a big influence on the precision of the altitude and freefall speed we are at during our skydive...
Innhopps in Namibia
Last November, I was part of a pair of trips to Namibia where we jumped across the country. The whole philosophy of the trip was to be immersed and completely alert to all the sensations and new surroundings. We made landings across landscapes that included dunes, canyons, river beds, safari lodges, craters, beaches and bushmen carvings and we spotted rhinos and elephants under canopy.
This is a great way to experience a new country and every aspect of the experience was fresh and awe-inspiring. Watch our short documentary at BPA Skydive the Expo.
